Hi, I am Dr. Smita Garg, an Indian-American artist and Holistic Healer based in Bay area, CA. Welcome to my page!
My work highlights my inner spirituality and my connection with nature and Mother Earth. I have worked extensively with local environmental organizations on raising awareness about the need to protect nature preserves. I am the founder of the holistic healing enterprise, Kinder Way Healing (Kinderwayhealing.com), offering many healing modalities; I am a founding member of local artist-activist collective, Creatives for Compassionate Communities; and also the Co-founder of educational non-profit, Campbell High School District Ed Foundation which serves over 8000 students and 7 Bay area schools. I also teach mindfulness and self-care classes and have lead group workshops for the same for several Bay area based and national organizations.
Most recently I have served as Chair for San Jose Arts Commission and successfully completed my 7-year term on the commission. I have continued to serve the arts community via my role as board member on SVCreates, a prominent Bay Area non profit supporting the arts. In my personal art style, I have found synergy with traditional and folk Indian art, where themes related to peace, nature and spirituality are skillfully and intentionally woven into the artwork. My artwork is a reflection and synthesis of my love for art and my deeply spiritual inner world. In my art, I also like to convey my experience of being someone who is very comfortable in a multicultural world and who feels at home everywhere.
Dr. Smita Garg holds a BFA in Applied Art from College of Art (COA), New Delhi and a Doctorate in Arts Education from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
